What did you do prior to insurance?
From Community College to Insurance at age of 21. During high school and college, and for a while after, I worked carpentry and roofing with my stepfather in NW Iowa.

What do you like about what you do and why you do it?
I had early success in the Insurance Business and was quickly promoted to sales manager in NW Iowa and then to District Manager in SW Iowa all during my first year in the business. During that year I met Sundae and we moved to Council Bluffs and then to the Des Moines Area, after another promotion 6 months later. We love Des Moines where we’ve called home since 2002. In 2009 after a sale of my former company, the new owner shut down most US offices and my entire sales team was unemployed with no notice, during an economic time when jobs were tough to come by. That’s when A to Z Insurance Associates was founded. Looking back on it, although it was scary, it was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. Now, we can contract with multiple major carriers as the market and competition changes. This allows us to give the clients the options that make sense for their current situation as well as be ready to serve them when their needs change in the future. We strive to make insurance less intimidating and confusing. Our goal is to help the clients not only select the products that meet their needs, but to break it down in a way they can understand in a conversational manner.

Tell a little about yourself and/or accomplishments you are proud of.
I am very proud of the fact that I have never put the sale before ethics. This includes in recruiting and helping a customer find insurance. I have always figured that if you take care of the client’s needs the finances will work out. This has worked for me since 2001 and I’ve been blessed with a wonderful family and sales team! So, I think I will continue with the mission!
